Volunteer Income Assistance Program Coming to Calais

Charles Fritz, the coordinator of the Volunteer Income Assistance Program, has set the schedule for helping residents with their tax returns for the 2012 Tax Year.  This program is sponsored by the IRS and charitable organizations like the United Way. All volunteers in the program have been trained and certified.

Members of the Oak Bay Fire Department will be sleeping on top of the local Canadian Tire store February 22/23 as a fundraiser for Muscular Dystrophy. Starting at 12 noon on February 22 staying there til 6 pm on Saturday February 23 the members will be there to help raise money for Muscular Dystrophy. .

BERNICE V. TRACY

Baileyville – Bernice Vesta Tracy, 78, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Calais Regional Hospital.  Bernice was born in Baileyville on June 6, 1934, daughter of the late Jack and Martha McCurdy.  She graduated from Woodland High School and worked various retail jobs in Calais for several years.  On December 16, 1959, she married Amos Tracy Jr.

EAC Presents “Hand Made Books”

The Eastport Arts Center presents “Hand Made Books” with Bernie Vinzani at 3 pm on Sunday, February 24th as part of the Sunday Afternoons at the EAC series. Vinzani will demonstrate the art of hand crafted book making, along with comments about hand making paper, and books as an artform.
