Ryland Sabattus dominates in one of his three victories of the day.

Downeast Wrestling Club has been busy the past two weekends traveling throughout central Maine to finish its regular season and get ready for the New England Regional tournament. 

Baileyville Police Report

The Baileyville Police Department has been busy the last two weeks handling vehicle stops, stolen money, domestic disputes, agency assists, accidents and violations of protective orders.

On March 11, the police reported to Houlton Road to deliver a notice of death to a relative who is a resident of Baileyville.

Calais Police Report

Bradley Sawyer, 40, of Pembroke was arrested 3/23/13 on Baring Street for O.U.I.

Donald Cain, 44, of Calais was arrested 3/20/13 on River Road for O.U.I.

Frederick Lawless, 25, of Calais was arrested 3/22/13 on Main Street for assault.

Ryan Norton, 26, of Calais was summonsed 3/19/13 on Main Street for theft.

Calais District Court

James M. Albano of Baileyville, ME.  Harassment by telephone. Washington County Jail 14 days, stayed 4/11/13.

Joshue D. Berry of Calais, ME. Operating while license suspended or revoked - OUI. Fine $600. Washington County Jail 7 days. License suspended 1 year.

Calais Recreation Department International Basketball Tournament

The Knights from the Cherryfield area earned the 2013 Calais Recreation 7/8-grade International Basketball Tournament championship over the weekend. Members included Coaches Skipper Alley and Ben Mugford and players Josiah Couture, Jaxson Marston, Cole Willey, Chad Perry, Hayden Pineo, Blaine Grant, Cody Courchain, Mark Anthony, Drew Fletcher, Bryce Rolfe, Noah Ramsdell, and Bretton Dinsmore.

Woodland Rec. Department 7-8 Grade Girls BB Tournament

The 2013 runners-up in the Woodland Recreation Department 7-8-grade girls basketball tournament were the Eastport Patriots which included front l-r River Hodgdon, Jade Consalvi, Holly Preston, Priscilla Myers, Rachel Emery, and Lindsey McPhee. AUDREY M. MORESIDE

BAILEYVILLE – Audrey Mae Moreside, 87, passed away on March 20, 2013 in Bangor surrounded by her family.  Audrey was born on May 15, 1925 to Burleigh and Fannie (Flood) Perkins in Baileyville where she spent her childhood and graduated from Woodland High School class of 1943.

LAWRENCE JOHN FADER

Winterport & Calais – Lawrence John Fader, 63, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013 at his home with his family by his side.  John was born in St. Stephen, NB on March 14, 1950.  He graduated from St. Stephen High School, Class of 1968, and attended St. Thomas University in Fredericton, NB.
