CHS Drama Club

Calais High School Drama club will perform its entry for the Maine Principals’ Association One-Act Festival on Wednesday, March 6 at 7 pm and Thursday, March 7 at 7:30 pm at the high school.  The play, FINAL PLACEMENT, is a highly charged two-character story about a child protective worker and the mother of a child placed for adoption.

Calais Fire-EMS Hosts Bereavement Training

Last Wednesday the Calais Fire-EMS held  Bereavement training at the fire station. The training was set up to help Fire-EMS personnel to talk to the family members left behind when a loved one passes or suffers from sudden illness like a heart attack.

Weekly Report Washington County Sheriff’s Office

The Sheriff’s Office has responded to several single-vehicle accidents over the past week.  Most have been due to poor road conditions.  We would like to remind operators to drive with caution and to stay off bad roads unless absolutely necessary.

The Baileyville Police had another relatively quiet week dealing with agency assists, domestic violence, complaints, harassment and vehicle stops.

On February 25, on-duty officer assisted a motorist on Rte. 1 by providing lights for driver to get home.

Michael Lewey, 32, of Calais was arrested 2/26/13 on Lafayette Street for a warrant.

Joshua Gillespie, 20 of Charlotte was summonsed 3/3/13 on Main Street for Illegal possession of liquor by a minor.

Terry Raymond, 27, of Webster Plt. was summonsed 3/1/13 at Wal Mart for theft.

Eastport Health Care and Calais Regional Hospital Join Forces to Give Newborns a “GREAT START” for Dental Health

Eastport Health Care Inc. and Calais Regional Hospital have joined together to co-sponsor a program called “Get a Great Start,” a newborn dental health program.  

The program began with Eastport Health Care dental hygienist Sue Drew who saw a need to link the newborn dental needs with the “ Maine, From the First Tooth” program.
