Tessa Clark Graduates from Smith College

Tessa Joy Clark, daughter of Dawn-Ann and Harold Clark of Calais received a bachelor’s degree from Smith College on Sunday, May 19, 2013. A 2009 graduate of Calais High School, Tessa Clark majored in Chemistry at Smith.

8th Annual WCCC’s Outdoor Adventure Race

CALAIS _ Participants paddled, ran and biked more than 20 miles earlier this month during the 8th annual Washington County Community College’s Outdoor Adventure Race. 

Each year teams from both sides of the international border take on the grueling task of competing and this year was no exception.

Dennysville Memorial Day

The one hundred forty-eighth observance of Memorial Day in Dennysville will be held on Monday, May 27, 2013, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Dennysville-Edmunds Congregational Church.  There the names of Revolutionary War Veterans will be read, the story of a soldier will be told, patriotic songs will be sung, and prayer will be said.

The Baileyville Police Department computer took a nap last week so we are reporting two weeks’ of incidents. Included in the report are calls on criminal mischief, accident, suspicious activities, criminal trespass and illegal transportation.

Calais Police Department

On Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at approximately 7:58 pm, the Calais Police Department was requested to watch for a juvenile on a bicycle that was coming in the Charlotte Road. The juvenile was located in the area of South Street Self Storage and turned over to Trooper Sawyer to escort home.

Washington County Sheriff Report

May 10, 2013

Deputy Gregory Sawyer responded to an underage drinking complaint in Pembroke.  Officer Justin Leighton of Eastport Police Department and Officer Ryan Murray of Pleasant Point Police Department assisted in the investigation.  Deputy Sawyer issued the juvenile a summons for Possession of Alcohol by a minor.

CALAIS _ It was a day to honor those who have given so much to either education or their community and on Friday a popular WCCC instructor received Faculty Emeritus status while four area residents were given honorary degrees during the 44th annual Commencement Exercises at Washington County Community College.

Calais Elementary School Health Fair

The Annual Health Fair was held at Calais Elementary School on Friday, May 10th, 2013. Presenters from across the state turned the gym into an informative, lively, fun-filled spot.
