I attended the grave side funeral for “Bob” Foster yesterday. He will be sadly missed by our community. 

Our meeting will be Monday 16th, 6:00pm at St. Anne’s Church. 

On Saturday, October 12 the annual OctoberFest Parade will be in Baileyville. Troy and I will carry the Colors.

Many in our area enjoyed the Eastport Pirate Festival.  From their Facebook page, it appears Ike and Dawn Winchester had a great time at the Festival.  They and family members who attended looked fabulous in their pirate costumes.

There will be a Seniority pot luck luncheon at the Methodist Homes Rec Hall on Wednesday, September 18th at 11:30 am. Bring a covered dish and place setting. There will be a speaker.

Princeton Baptist Church will be hosting a one day Kids Rally on September 21 from 10-4:00 pm.  All children in kindergarten through sixth grade are invited to attend.  The theme of the day is I SPY.  It will be a day of stories, music, games and crafts to be enjoyed with lunch provided. 

CLARENCE A. LOCKHART

Calais – Clarence Allen Lockhart, 47, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at a Bangor hospital with his family by his side.  Clarence was born in Calais on October 2, 1965, son of Oliver and Irene (Hachey) Lockhart.  He attended the Woodland High School and served in the U.S. Navy.

ROBERT D. FOSTER SR.

Calais - Robert D. Foster Sr. passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2013, peacefully, with his loving family by his side.  He was born on August 1, 1936 to Jerome and Carmen (Boyd) Foster.  Growing up in the Calais area, Bob came to know many faces and made a lot of friends.  If by chance he didn’t know you, he would make it a point to change that.

Calais Rec. Notes & Calendar

During the month of August, the Rec Department concluded its summer programming and closed the pool after a great season.  The lifeguards and pool staff put on a great activities day for all children full of games, food, and activities.   Preparations are being made to drain and winterize the pool.

Monday was an interesting day for Calais High School.  It was the first day for Stephy Risso, our new foreign exchange student from Chile.  Everyone was very excited to meet her and welcome her to Calais.  Stephy will be a senior this year.

PAWS Invites Supporters to CAT’S MEOW Dinner at EAC

On Saturday, September 21st, PAWS Brave Hearts is hosting THE CAT’S MEOW:  A Purrfectly Delicious Dinner at the Eastport Arts Center, 36 Washington St, Eastport.  This festive end-of-summer evening out includes a surf and turf dinner complete with a whole lobster accompanied by beef tenderloin, appetizer, salad, dessert and beverages.

CRH Encourages You to “Man Up” and Get Screened

One in every six men will get prostate cancer, and it is one of the leading causes of cancer death among men.  That is why Calais Regional Hospital is encouraging men in our community to “Man Up” and get screened.    CRMS physician, Dr. Jose Vergara, will be conducting FREE prostate cancer screenings on Thursday, September 26 from 2 to 6 p.m.
