HS Soccer

For the Woodland Dragons Damon Lincoln connected for four goals, including his 74th career goal, en route to Woodland’s 7-3 victory over East Grand. Lincoln set the school record for total goals scored and is now number 10 in all-time career goals for boys’ soccer in the State of Maine.

Beckett Center News

Monday was Columbus Day.  The crew went for a walk in the Park. We also worked on scrap booking.

Tuesday some attended the Health Fair at WCCC. Others went for a nice walk in the community. In the afternoon we played basketball and enjoyed the beautiful weather. Also some went swimming in Machias.

St. Croix Valley Pageant

Winners of this year’s Miss St. Croix Valley Pageant were chosen at the pageant last Saturday.  Pictured are Little Miss St. Croix Valley Karly Welshman of St. Stephen, Junior Miss Kelsey Brown of Whiting, Teen Miss Lauren Cook of Meddybemps, and Miss St. Croix Valley Crystal Annis of Baileyville.

Wheelbarrow of Cheer Winner

Tom MacDonald is the winner of the infamous Wheelbarrow of Cheer raffled off at Calais Downtown Revitalization Coalition’s Celebration Party held Friday night during a Full Hunter’s Moon at St. Croix Country Club. He gets to keep the wheelbarrow donated by Ace Home Center and the contents (valued at $500) donated by CDRC members. (Submitted photo).

High School Volleyball

The Woodland Lady Dragons and Calais Lady Blue Devils will open their quarter-final volleyball action Friday night at Calais High School with the best of five game playoff match starting at 5:30.

Calais (7-2) defeated Sumner (1-9) 27-25, 25-14, 22-25, 25-14

Calais Police Report

Over the past week, officers have responded to 46 incidents, 4 accidents.  Officers also conducted 10 traffic stops with all but one resulting in warnings, and all but one for the offence of speeding.  One summons was issued for speed.

CHARLENE ANN GRANT

BUCKSPORT – Charlene Ann Grant, 73, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus, surrounded by family on October 17, 2013 at her home in Bucksport.  She was born February 1, 1940, in Calais, the daughter of Stephen and Beulah (Lee) Getchell.  

GLORIA J. GAYTON

Calais – Gloria Jean Gayton, 57, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2013 with her family by her side at Calais Regional Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.  Gloria was born in St. Stephen, NB on November 4, 1955, daughter of the late Fred and Annie (Hartford) Fraser.  After attending school in St. Stephen she worked in the tuna plant in St.
