Calais Police Report

As the weather turns cold and wind begins to howl, Calais PD has an increase in alarm calls.  They began increasing this week, so apparently winter is upon us.  Also during the past week officers responded to 57 incidents, issued 7 traffic citations and covered 1 motor vehicle accident.

Lions Santa’s Helpers Program In Its 42nd Year

On Sunday, December 8th, the Calais Lions Club, with the help of WQDY, will host the 42nd  annual Santa’s Helpers Program from 3:00 to 5:00.  This campaign will broadcast live on 92.7 FM and will raise money for many area families in need at Christmas time.

WC Sheriff Report

Deputy Rich Rolfe and K9 Stryker assisted Baileyville Police Department with a probation search in Baileyville.  The probationer was in violation of his probation conditions by possessing marijuana.  He was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail.

Operations at Milltown Port to Resume

Facility modernization to be complete this week

 CALAIS, Maine - U.S. Customs & Border Protection Office of Field Operations Milltown port of entry will resume operations Nov. 27, at 8:00 am. The port was temporarily closed on May 1, due to the demolition and reconstruction of a new facility at this location.

Calais Police Department has handled 54 incidents, issued 7 traffic citations and responded to one motor vehicle accident.  

On 11-18-13, Officers received a complaint of criminal trespass. As a result, William Johnson, 28 of Calais, was summoned for this charge.
