Calais Police Report

This has been a comparatively slow week at Calais PD, allowing officers some time to work on their many on-going investigations.  Several criminal trespass complaints were received this week, as well as noise complaints and requests for assist to other agencies.

District Court

James M. Albano of  Baileyville, ME. Keeping dangerous dog.  Adjudicated. Fine $1,000. Restitution $8,071.80.

Bernard J. Basque of Ste Emelie De L. Energie. Driver uses or in possession of drugs. Fine $500.

Larry L. Bowen, Jr., of Pleasant Point. Criminal trespass. Jury trial.

Programs for Job Seekers at Calais CareerCenter

CareerCenters, part of the Maine Department of Labor, offer a variety of services to help people find employment or upgrade skills. Each center provides several public-access computer workstations with Microsoft Office software, resume writing and cover letter software, Internet access and O’Net software for skills assessment.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day and wishes for good fortune to all!  Although by the weather, it’s hard to believe that spring’s official start is only a week away.

Grand Lake Stream

 Cheese and Cheers for St. Patrick’s Day!  The Women to Women Group in Grand Lake Stream will have a get-together at 4:00 P.M. on Monday the 17th at the Schoolhouse in town.  Bring an appetizer and beverage of your choice and enjoy a bit of blarney with friends and neighbors. Everyone is welcome.

PES Dr. Seuss Celebration

Princeton Elementary School held its Dr. Seuss Hullabaloo on Friday, March 7. All pre-k through grade 8 students, teachers and staff participated in reading groups, game groups or as helpers. All students were given cupcakes decorated as Dr. Seuss related objects. Several students and staff members dressed as Dr. Seuss characters. Everyone enjoyed this fun and educational afternoon.

March is a quiet month so far but there is a storm coming this week. Isn’t it nice to have longer days instead of cooking supper in the dark? A lot of my friends said it lifted their spirits and cured cabin fever.
