Haiku poet and fiction writer Catherine J. S. Lee will be teaching a Haiku workshop on Saturday, April 5, at 1 p.m., at Calais Bookshop. April is National Poetry Month so everyone is invited to learn how to write haiku, whether an experienced poet or a novice. There is no charge.

MEDDYBEMPS – Edward Pomeroy Ketchen, 94, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 27, 2014 at the Calais Regional Hospital with family by his side.  He was the husband of the late Joan (Dripps) Ketchen who passed away March 23, 2007.  Born in Hartford, CT on July 12, 1919, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Ora (Pomeroy) Ketchen.

Calais Police Report

On 3-31-14 Officers arrested Richard Quinn, 48, of Perry.  A report was received by this department alleging that Mr. Quinn was seen in his employer’s vehicle and subsequently over $1000.00 was missing.  Mr. Quinn was charged with burglary of a motor vehicle and transported to Washington County Jail
