Artist Retreat Studios and Gallery Re-Opening

Downeast artists Trina Stephenson and Michael Chesley Johnson will re-open Artists Retreat Studios & Gallery at 45 Washington Street, Lubec, Maine, on Tuesday, July 1st. The gallery features kaleidoscopic images and fabric art by Trina as well as Michael’s landscapes in oil and pastel.

WCCC Golf Tournament

There is still room for teams to sign up for the 13th annual Washington County Community College Golf Tournament on Saturday, July 12, at the St. Croix Country Club.

There will be two shotgun starts at 7:30a.m. and 1 p.m.  

Again this year, the tournament will help raise scholarship money for WCCC students.

Downeast LNG Moving Forward With Plans For LNG Import/Export Terminal

Downeast LNG (DELNG) announced today that it is planning to develop a bi-directional LNG facility at its proposed location in Robbinston, Maine, meaning that it will be able to handle both the import and export of natural gas.

On June 24th, 2014 Debra Kendall, 51, of Calais was arrested for Violation of a Protection order.

On June 27th, 2014 Wade Papke, 37, of Calais  was arrested for violation of probation.

On June 29th, 2014 Rachelle Brooks, 50, of Calais was arrested for operating under the influence.

CRH Lab Gets High Rating During Inspection

CALAIS—Once again Calais Regional Hospital’s clinical laboratory passed an inspection by the Department of Health and Human Services Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.  “They are the one group that every single lab in the United States must get a certificate of some type to operate from,” said Peter Martin, CRH Laboratory Director.

July 4th Traffic Enforcement

State Police say they plan several traffic enforcement efforts that started today and will continue through the July 4th holiday weekend.  The Chief of the State Police, Colonel Robert Williams, said troopers will be looking for aggressive, drunk and distracted drivers, speeders, those texting, and those not wearing their seat belts.

Diners will enjoy hors d’oeuvres and drinks at Rachel Rubeor’s home, followed by paella at Davis Pike’s home, followed by dessert by the water at Stockford Park.
