The lovely new café in Calais, “Crumbs” was the setting for our March 3rd Lioness meeting with twenty members present including two Charter members, Teresa Ramsey and Norma Van Devander. Lioness President Cheryl Gillis brought the meeting to order after all had placed their orders for dinner.

This week at Calais High School the Jazz Combo gave another successful showing at the State Jazz Competition, the new members of the National Honor Society were inducted, and groups across the high school began preparations for annual events. Let’s jump in.

We have another weekend and another snowstorm.  I think we have had one weekend without a storm since February. I assume the weather will warm up sometime.  I was happy to see the deck last Wednesday, but today it has disappeared once again.

HILDA M. BROWN

Mrs. Hilda Margaret Brown passed away March 1, 2015 in Waterville, Maine at age 98 surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Herbert and Una Leeman Hinton of Calais, Maine and was the wife of the late Norman Brown of Waterville. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

HAROLD D. CARTER

Bangor and Charlotte – Harold Dwight Carter, 89, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at a Bangor hospital.  Harold was born in Lowell, MA on July 12, 1925, son of the late Samuel and Alice (Goodwin) Carter.  After graduating high school he worked for American Woolen Co. in Lawrence, MA until enlisting in the U.S.
