Scottish Super Group “Dallahan” in Calais on their Extended US Tour!

Calais Celtic Concerts will present Scottish super group Dallahan at the Calais High School, in Calais, on Friday August 12th. The group performed at the W.C.C.C., last year to a packed audience, and were one of the highlights of the CCC Series last summer. Showtime will be at 7:00 PM US/ 8:00 PM Canadian time.

Special Happy Birthday recognition is due to Bill Gordon as he has turned 90 years old.  He has had a lakeside property in Meddybemps for many years.  His family celebrated with him during this past weekend.  Blessings to Bill.

Sound System Success

The second and last Bose sound system arrived in Calais on Thursday, August 4th, just in time for the International Festival. While one system was being used on the Green for the CDRC chair affair auction, the other was employed on the Wabanaki Waterfront for aspiring young musicians.

Congratulations to Carly Davis.  She just received word that she will be interning at the main Wildlife Park in Gray, Maine one day a week while attending Unity College and playing soccer for them.  Carly is the daughter of Karen and Jim Davis of Alexander.

Mural Dedication

 

Len Hansen (Far Right) addresses the crowd at the dedication of the mural on the side of the Calais Community Thrift Store. The newly finished greenspace now includes a stone walking path and rock wall. The new plaque shares the history of the Rose Standish. (Photo by Amy Jeanroy).

It is with sorrow that I report that my oldest dog, Barry, died on August 4th after a year long battle with cancer. He was 13-1/2. This leaves only Bob and Beulah.
