7th Annual Eastport Christmas Homes Tour

The 7th Annual Eastport Christmas Homes Tour, sponsored by the Eastport Area Chamber of Commerce will feature nine homes decorated for the holidays. The event will be held Saturday December 3rd from 11am to 5pm. A snow date of Dec 4th has been set. With the aid of a colorful, descriptive brochure the tour is self-directed and includes a map.

Eastern Maine Electric Cooperative Wins $13.6 Million Jury Verdict

On Friday November 18th, a Bangor, Maine jury found, after a four day trial, that five wind power companies breached their contractual obligation to negotiate in good faith, and returned a $13.6 million verdict in favor of Eastern Maine Electric Cooperative (the “Cooperative”).

On November 10th the inaugural address of newly elected mayor was characteristically brief. William (Billy) Howard III began, “All I got to say is education, infrastructure, and economic development.” Except for education, such were the themes for the full council meeting on November 17th.

Happy Thanksgiving!   Nomatter how many troubling issues there are in our lives and the news, there is always something to be thankful about.  Here’s wishing you and yours a blessed day.

Regarding the Legalizing Marijuana Question and outcome of the vote, my husband and I have been strongly opposed to the general legalization of Marijuana.  As to the use of marijuana for carefully controlled medical use, that is not the question.

 Calais Regional Hospital is pleased to announce the addition of Manuel Falcon to the CRH Surgical Department.  Manuel is a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist and looks forward to working with the surgical team providing high quality services to the people of Downeast Maine
