DOTTY KAY SLACK

West Swanton, VT - Dotty Kay (Stanhope) Slack, 79, passed away Saturday evening at the UVM Medical Center as a result of a sudden stroke. She was born at home on Ridge Road, South Robbinston, ME on December 20, 1937,  the daughter of Lena (Brown) and Raymond Stanhope.

KinderArts Winter Session

Thursday, February 9, 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at the Eastport Arts Center. Free. It is a six-week winter session of its program for pre-schoolers. Gives young children opportunities for creating, expressing themselves and moving and grooving to childrens’ songs.

 As it is almost tourney time, here is a photo of the 1922-23 Buicks basketball team, reputed to be the best basketball team ever taking the floor for Calais. In those days there were what we would call semipro teams and the Buicks were one of the best in the State.

 Charlotte – Marie Margaret Annis, 97, passed away Friday, February 3, 2017 at Marshall Healthcare in Machias.  Marie was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on December 24, 1919, daughter of the late Roy and Margaret (Allen) Caler.  She attended school in North Anson and upon her mother’s unexpected passing, the family moved to Charlotte.  Marie worked in the local fish factories and marr

Robert O. Brown, 74, of Indian Lake in Whiting, ME, passed away peacefully at home on January 12, 2017.

Born in Milford, MA, he was the son of the late Charles F. Brown and Cecile E. (Mailloux) Brown.

DANIEL L. LACASSE

Calais – Daniel Lucien Lacasse, 60, passed away after a brief illness at Calais Regional Hospital on January 31, 2017.  Dan was born on August 28, 1956 in Lewiston, the oldest of 8 boys born to Lorraine and Arthur Lacasse.  He grew up in a closely-knit French-Canadian neighborhood in Auburn in a 3-story apartment down the hill from his grandparents’ house and St.

Mike McPherson Award presented to Randy McCormick

The Michael McPherson Award was started in February of 2000. It is a tribute presented in memory of Michael McPherson for his years of dedicated love and service to God, Family, Youth, and Community.
