Pool Getting Sealant


Applying a fresh coat of sealant at the Howard Fox Memorial Pool are Craig Morrison, Kobey Gillespie and Logan Huckins. The pool opened for the season on Tuesday, June 27th. Hours will be Monday-Thursday, 12:00-7:00 p.m., Fridays from 12:00-5:00 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00-7:00 p.m., and Sundays from 10:00-5:00 p.m. (Photo by Lura Jackson).

Food Pantry Receives 400 Jars of Peanut Butter and Jelly

History Presentation Connects Cultures of Maine and Early Texas

Photo: Lucy Parker Shaw was among the natives of Eastern Washington County that would migrate to Galveston, Texas, and subsequently play a major role in shaping the culture there. Shaw's story was presented on June 16th at the Holmestead by Professor James Valentino of Texas.

 Baileyville – On Monday evening, June 12, 2017 at EMMC, Bangor, Eldon Libby, 84, of Baileyville passed through the Pearly Gates and reached his goal of life eternal with his wife Miriam and son David by his side.


Robbinston – Clifton V. Brooks, 94, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017.  Clifton was born in Robbinston on December 31, 1922, son of Adam and Mary (Nash) Brooks.  At a young age, the family relocated to California where he went through Jr. and Sr. High School. 

Stolen Vehicle Dumped in St. Croix River

Photo: A maroon 2007 Honda SUV was reported to be headed into the St. Croix River early Friday morning by a Canadian bystander. Police and rescue personnel quickly responded but no driver could be located. The vehicle was confirmed to be stolen from the Calais fire department parking lot. No suspects have been identified at this time. (Calais Police photo).

23rd Annual Relay for Life Persists Despite Rain

Photo: Despite the Rain teams like Alexander for a Cure were still out walking at Friday's Relay for Life. Alexander for a Cure was this year's top team fund raiser for the Relay raising $4,329. Team members include B.J. Wallace, Jill Caruso, Casey Carr, Lesliann Barnard, Sophia Rogers, Eric Barnard, and Michael Barnard.
