Downeast Salmon Federation Announces Effort to Restore Wild Salmon

Downeast Salmon Federation (DSF) announced the formal launch of a $2.2 million fundraising effort to restore wild Atlantic salmon to Maine’s Downeast rivers. The launch will be celebrated at a community-wide event to be held August 3rd at DSF’s newly expanded Peter Gray Hatchery beginning at 4pm on Willow Street in East Machias.

 Indian Township – Mary Kay Purdy, 35, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor following a brief battle with cancer.  Mary was born in Hinsdale, IL on September 28, 1981, daughter of George and Judy Purdy.

Calais & Bangor – Michael W. Hinton, 68, died June 27, 2017 peacefully at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor after a lengthy battle with renal disease. He was born Feb. 10, 1949 in Calais, the son of Harry A.and Marion L. (Tracy) Hinton.

Father and Son Arrested in Princeton Home Invasion

On 07/10/2017 at about 11:33 am the Washington County RCC received a 911 call from a caller stating that there was a home invasion at 29 Mill Street in Princeton. The caller advised that the home owner Rodney Fitch 50 was bleeding from the head and that he was attempting to control bleeding. The caller further stated that a man had entered Mr. Fitch’s home and assaulted him.
