Flu Shots Available for Calais Middle/High School Students

The Blue Devil Health Center will offer flu shots to students free of charge beginning September 25th and continuing all fall as supplies last.  Permission slips will be distributed to students from their home room teachers and should be returned as soon as possible to the school’s front office or school nurse.  Parents may obtain additional permission forms by call

Congratulations are in order for AES Kindergarten student, Brylea Newman, who recently was crowned Miss New England Jr. Princess.  Brylea resides in Alexander and is the granddaughter of Donnie and Gert Newman.  Way to go Brylea!


Baileyville – Elgin D. McGaw, 79, died Monday, September 18, 2017 at home with his wife by his side.  Elgin was born February 10, 1938 in Topsfield to Linwood and Vera (Rhoades) McGaw.  He attended elementary school in Topsfield and was a proud graduate of Lee Academy in Lee, Maine.  Elgin served in the U.S. Army as an M.P.


Joeseph E. McKeel, 70, passed away September 20, 2017 after a tough battle with cancer. He was born in Laurence Harbor, NJ. He is survived by his wife Mel (Carmella Perno) McKeel of 47 years, his children Jennifer St Peter of Princeton, ME and Jason J.
