SARAH MULCAHY WINS 1,155 RUNNER MARATHON AT MILLINOCKET

Local stand-out marathon runner Sarah Mulcahy competed on Saturday in Millinocket where over 3,000 spectators and nearly 1,200 runners watched the 26.2-mile event on a tough up & down course. Sarah lives in Princeton and teaches at Woodland Junior High School.

Calais and Eastport – Virginia Eleanor Frankland Hill, 94, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2017 at Augusta Center for Health and Rehabilitation with her family by her side.  Virginia was born in Eastport on October 31, 1923, the daughter of George and Maddy (McPhail) Matthews.

John Albert (Jack) Robinson retired from life in this world, joyfully moving onward to live fully in the light of his precious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the night of December 7, 2017. John was born August 22, 1926 in North Perry. He was the only son of Ernest Ellery Robinson and Flora Doris Sprague -Robinson.

Perry Church News

At the Perry Congregational Church the annual Hanging of the Greens was a worship service, a carol sing, violin music from some young people, putting up greens, the creche and other decorations and the first lighting of the Christmas candles.  The service ended with “Silent Night” accompanied by Kris Paprocki on the guitar.

Woodland High School Concert

The WHS Holiday concert on Tuesday was a great showcase of the high school's musical talent. The band played a selection of traditional favorites as well as some newer pieces. The chorus performed as well featuring groups and solo performances.

Breast Cancer Support Group to be Held at Methodist Church

Being diagnosed with breast cancer can cause emotional and physical distress, but that can be lessened by sharing in the experience with those who have also been through it. If you or someone you know has been diagnosed with breast cancer, you are invited to a breast cancer support group at United Methodist Church in Calais on December 15th, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
