Calais – George Andrew McCoubrey, 71, passed away January 3, 2018 surrounded by his family at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.  George was born in Calais on February 24, 1946, son of Neville and Joan (Lawler) McCoubrey.

Winter Family Fun Day Planned in Cobscook Bay State Park

Families and those young at heart are invited to join the community at Cobscook Bay State Park for a day of winter fun. The ski and snowshoe trailer will be on site for free equipment loans. Cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating, sliding, tote sled rides, and horse drawn sleigh rides are just a few of the activities available!

DECH Welcomes the First Baby of 2018

 On January 2 at 5:28 p.m., Justina Morang delivered the first baby born at Down East Community Hospital for 2018.  Mackenzie Lynne Ross, a sweet baby girl, was born to parents Justina Morang and Matthew Ross of Robbinston.  Mackenzie, their first child, weighed in at 6 lbs., 13oz.  Mackenzie is the first grandchild for Dad’s family and the 5th for Mom’s family.  Justina commented o

 Robbinston – Rebecca Olson Cookson, 64, passed away Friday, January 12, 2018 following a courageous battle with cancer.  Rebecca was born in St. Stephen, NB on February 13, 1953, daughter of Arthur and Edith (Olson) Garland.
