First I would like to congratulate you on the wonderful job you are doing with the Advertiser. We are retired and living in Kennebunk. We had to sell our camp on Big Lake last summer, but are continuing to renew our subscription to keep up with the towns and Calais area news. (Loved the picture of the little cheerleaders last week.)

It is with great sadness but with loving memories that we announce the passing of Edwin R. Murphy at age 71 of Lakeland, Florida and St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Canada.  After a long courageous battle with cancer, he died peacefully at his winter home in Lakeland, Florida on March 28, 2018 with his loving wife and daughter by his side.

Machias Town Manager Christina Therrien Announces Candidacy for Maine Senate

Christina Therrien, the current town manager of Machias, has announced her candidacy for Maine State Senate District 6.

 The Senate district encompasses all municipalities and unorganized territories of Washington County and parts of East Hancock County including Gouldsboro, Sullivan, and Winter Harbor.

Congratulations to Anna Johnson for enlisting in the 101st Refueling Wing of the United States Army.  Anna took the oath on March 29th with her parents Mark and Paula Johnson in attendance along with her sister Faith.  Anna is a Senior at Woodland High School and will be graduating in June.

Perry – A celebration of the life of James C. Morris, who passed away on March 9, 2018, will begin at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 7th at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais.  Visitation will be held just prior to the service from 11:00 a.m.
