DECEMBER 5: Calais Free Library will host a Christmas Craft Night at 6:30 p.m. Many demonstrations. Join the fun, take home some crafts and enjoy food and drink.

DECEMBER 6: Maine Educational Opportunity Center will host a free workshop entitled Essentials of College Planning for adults 19 and over at Machias CareerCenter, 53 Prescott Drive at 10:00 a.m. FMI  call 1-800-281-3703.

DECEMBER 6: “Raising the Roof for Washington County” at the Whiting Town Hall from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Public and potluck,

DECEMBER 6: December Pops Concert at 7:00 p.m. at Calais High School featuring grades 7-12 choral and instrumental musicians.

DECEMBER 7: Christmas Parade at 6 p.m. beginning at Calais Motor Inn. Children can meet Santa Claus while Mrs. Claus hands out cookies. Local businesses to host Moonlight Madness downtown!

DECEMBER 7: The St. Croix Historical Society’s Annual Christmas Party at 6:30 p.m. at the Holmstead, 527 Main Street, Calais. Will be collecting for the food pantry. For more info call Gayle at 454-8926.

DECEMBER 8: Community Christmas Party at the St. Croix #1 Fire House, Church Street, Calais from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome! Bring a dish to share. See our ad in this week’s paper.

DECEMBER 8: Calais Regional Hospital invites everyone, young and old to visit with Santa from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the CRH classroom.

DECEMBER 8: St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, Church Street, Calais Cookie Sale at 8:00 a.m. Choose from a variety of cookies and fill a container.

DECEMBER 9: December Breakfast at Odd Fellows’ Hall, Hillside Ave., Baileyville from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Adults $7. Proceeds to benefit Children’s Book Project.

DECEMBER 12: Reading Group: “The Cat’s Table” by Michael Ondaatje at Calais Bookshop, 405 Main Street, Calais at 5:30 p.m. FMI call 454-1110.

DECEMBER 13: Caring Connections Support Group for women diagnosed with breast cancer at Mona Van Wart’s office in CRH from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

DECEMBER 15: Boy Scout Troop 132 Pancake Breakfast at Calais United Methodist Church from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. $5.

DECEMBER 16: Calais in Motion will host a Home tour, 5-8 p.m. Tour nine lovely homes decorated for the season. Make sure you end with the “Holmestead” for some wassailing and Christmas goodies. Tickets are $5 and are available at downtown merchants. Must present tickets at each home.

DECEMBER 28: Seniority Breakfast Club at the Wickachee Restaurant at 7:00 a.m. This is a Friday, just for the month of December.

ONGOING: 

-Wednesdays: AL-ANON meets at 6:30 p.m. in the old Calais Hospital basement.

-Fridays: Caregiver Support group at Machias Veterans’ Home meets first Friday of every month at 2:00 p.m. Contact Lisa at 255-0162 FMI. 

-Mondays - Weekly computer tutorials beginning at Lincoln Memorial Library in Dennysville 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Open and free to all.

-Saturdays: Shape-Note singing at the Cobscook Community Learning Center, first Saturday of every month from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Potluck supper after. All levels of experience welcome.
