CHS Girls Basketball

The Calais girls’ basketball continues to get stronger as they conclude their regular season action on Wednesday at Woodland. Against a tough “D” Machias girls squad the Lady Devils played even through the first two periods to a 29-29 deadlock, but in the third Olivia Smith nailed 3-3’s and the team put 25-points on the board securing a ten point advantage and they never looked back playing to a 76-56 win. Kate Whitney hit 22-points for the Lady Bulldogs, Angelica Lyons netted 14, and Tate Dolley 10 in the loss. On the Calais ledger Maddy McVicar paced with 21, Olivia Smith hit 11, and 10-each from Sierra Young and Paige Gillespie led their attack.

The Lady Blue Devils continue in first in the East and has widened the gap between first & second place to nearly 20-points over Dexter. After having had a thriller at Washington Academy earlier, the Lady Devils hosted the Lady Raiders on Tuesday jumping to an 11-6 advantage after 1-frame and powering to a 34-18 lead midway, the hosts weren’t to be challenged today, playing to an easy 58-34 victory. Maddy led the way nailing 17, Meaghan Cavanaugh and Taylorae Carter added 10-each, and Olivia Smith netted 8 in the win. On the WA ledger Lauren Raye scored 14 and Mackenzie Foss added 11.

The Guagus girls gave Calais a bit of a run on Friday trailing early and keeping the same pace to a 55-42 loss at the horn. Anna Ramsey led the attack in the loss with 23-points and Kelli Kennedy added 10. The Lady Blue Devils had 23 from Maddy, Paige netted 11, and Meaghan 8 in the win.
