The Calais Lady Blue have just completed a fabulous 18-0 season under Coach Dana Redding and will open in Bangor at the Auditorium as the #1 seed in Eastern Maine Class C action. On Tuesday at 8:35 they will face the winner between #8 Narraguagus High School or #9 Stearns High School. Everyone wishes the Lady Blue Devils the very best throughout the tournament season.

Last week the Lady Blue Devils finished their perfect season with an 86-23 victory over a young Woodland Dragon squad. In the win Maddy McVicar hit 12, Paige Gillespie 11, Mallory Black 10, Kate Cundiff 10, Meaghan Cavanaugh 8, Kaylee Johnson 7, and Sarah Smith 6. For the Lady Dragons Jaycie MacArthur hit 10 and Nicole Hanson added 5.

Earlier the Lady Devils saw Narraguagus for the third time and took an easy 52-26 win over their Lady Knight hosts. Lauren and Anna Ramsey scored 11/10 points respectively in the loss, while Calais had Madison McVicar pacing the win with 25-points; Olivia Smith and Paige Gillespie each added 5 in the win.


The Calais Blue Devils have just completed a fine 14-4 season earning them 5TH place in the Eastern Maine “C” Championships in Bangor. They will open on Tuesday at 2:05 against 4TH ranked Sumner. The two teams have split on the season and this should be an exciting opener. Everyone wishes the Blue Devils the very best throughout the tournament season.

In the final Sumner contest on Tuesday the Blue Devils fell behind early as the guests posted an 18-6 advantage after the opening 8-minutes of action. Midway Devain Hall helped to close the gap adding 8-points and closing out the frame with a 26-21 Sumner lead. The teams played even through the third, closing 37-32, and a strong rally in the fourth put the thriller final at 51-50 for the visiting Sumner Memorial Tigers. Devain Hall paced the Devils at 18, Nathan Newell hit 9, Cordell Hold 8, and Tyler Niles 7 in the 1-point loss. For the Tigers Chipman hit 13, Martin 11, and Rayner 10.

In their final regular season game on Thursday the Blue Devils played host to the Woodland Dragons and powered to an 18-10 advantage in the opening frame and closed out the half with a 39-21 lead, playing to the 75-44 victory. In Devain Hall’s final home contest he exploded for 38-points with Tyler Niles adding 7 and Joel Leeman 5, while their Dragon counterparts had CJ Brown netting 15 and Toby Tomah 14.

The Woodland Dragons ranked #13 in Eastern Maine “D” playoffs will travel to Deer Isle-Stonington High School on Wednesday for a 5:00 prelim against the #4 ranked Mariners. Everyone wishes the Dragons the very best throughout the tournament season.

On Monday the Dragons hosted the Shead Tigers and played tough through the opening 16-minutes entering the lockers with a single point deficit, 26-27. In the third Clossey and Bradbury got hot for the guests getting 7/6 respectively and gaining a 44-36 advantage which they took to a 70-52 win. Bradbury at 24 and Clossey 21 paced the win and Cushing added 10-points. On the Dragon ledger Damon Lincoln hit 15, Tyler Cochran 11, Toby Tomah 9, and Jake Hoops 8.

At Narraguagus on Tuesday it was all Woodland in the first two periods as they secured a 33-25 lead midway paced by Damon Lincoln’s 16-points. In a rebound the Knight’s Spencer Thompson poured in 18-second half points to regain the lead and earn a exciting 64-60 win. On the Dragons Lincoln hit 20, Cochran 12, Brown 11, and Tomah 6 in the loss, while the hosts had Thompson scoring big at 29 with Dublin, Hachey, and Alley all making 9-each.
