Palermo - Donna Louise (Carlow) Bradstreet, 74, passed away peacefully Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, with her husband by her side. She was born May 22, 1938, in Calais, to Bernice (Alexander) and Norman F. Carlow.

She was educated in Calais schools and graduated from Calais Memorial High School, class of 1956. Donna was employed a number of years as a dental assistant in the office of Dr. Leon Densmore in Calais. She also was a member of the Calais chapter of Sweet Adeline’s. After her marriage and a move to Presque Isle, she was employed by Dr. Donald Blackstone, an orthodontist. A change in jobs for John brought them to Augusta and later to Palermo. She worked for 25 years with the State of Maine; first in the department of agriculture, then with waste management, and finally retired from the office of state planning. Donna was a lifelong Methodist and an active member of Searsmont United Methodist Church, where she served as treasurer for a number of years. She also loved being outside and gardening. She was active with Sheepscot Lake Fish and Game, Tri-County Beekeepers, Central Maine Bird Fanciers, Palermo Extension and Palermo Historical Society. She was a longtime member and supporter of Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association - MOFGA, and was a certified master gardener.

Donna was predeceased by her parents; and brother, Norman. She leaves behind her husband of 45 years, John; daughter, Heather of South Portland; and son, Stuart “Alex” and wife, Amy, and two grandchildren, Olivia and Adam, of Old Orchard Beach. She is also survived by three sisters, Olive Bentum and husband, William, of Calais, Carol Carlow of Falmouth, and Jane Carlow of Gorham, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at Searsmont United Methodist Church, Searsmont. After cremation, burial will be at the convenience of the family at Hannan Cemetery, Palermo.
