Final Suspect Captured

The final bombing suspect was captured around 7 PM  Friday night, alive but wounded. After five days of terror and danger, police finally located bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev  hiding in a boat in suburban backyard.

Using a helicopter and  thermal imaging to confirm the presence of a person in the boat, it was a two hour standoff, exchanging gunfire and flash-bang grenades to disorient the fugitive. Police brought in a negotiator as evening fell on the scene.

Just before 9 p.m., Tsarnaev was taken into police custody, where he was then taken to Boston Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital. He is listed in serious condition.

Secretary Napolitano, of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, released the following statement:

“The apprehension of the suspect tonight is a significant development in the ongoing FBI-led investigation of the Boston bombings. I commend the federal, state and local law enforcement and first responders who have been and continue to work tirelessly to get to the bottom of the senseless attacks in Boston, and defend and protect the American public.”
