There was an accident at the school on Monday, April 12th. A car lost control and smashed into the glass doors at the entrance to the school. All the kids had gone home, so no one was hurt and  the doors have been replaced in time for school on the 22nd.

Last Wednesday, April 17th, Darlene McConnell and I attended the opening meeting and luncheon of the St. Croix Valley International Garden Club in Whiting. (On the menu was corn chowder, sandwiches, sweets, olives, desserts, tea, coffee, lemonade and water.?) President Joan Williams welcomed everyone back after a long winter. Door prizes were given out and there was an auction. The money raised will be used toward town and school gardens. It was good to see everybody back and some new and returning ladies. On May 15th, the club will travel to Orono to see the Lyle Littlefield Ornamental Gardens. Other activities are listed in the year book.

Last Thursday, the Robbinston Historical Society met at 7 pm at the Visitors’ Center. Vice-president Carol Hollingdale presided. Final preparations for the yard sale were made. Set up will be on May 22nd at 10 am. Desserts will be sold at the sale as well as raffle tickets on an afghan donated by Rosella Lagerquist. Items for the sale need to be dropped off by May 21st. Tom Brennan will paint the signs in front of the Visitors’ Center and the Chapel. The next meeting, May 16th, will be the annual meeting and election of officers. If you would like to serve, contact Bobbi Henkel. Marylou Burpee and her daughter attended. Marylou used to live in town and now her daughter Ruth is living in  the family home.
