Lady Blue Devils 7-0 On Season


The Calais Lady Blue Devils has extended their season to 7-0 and are presently in third place in Eastern Maine C action. Dominant pitching continues with the Lady Blue Devils Smith, Gillespie, and Ross as they allowed only 10-hits over three games last week. 

The team had easy wins over the Shead Tigerettes and the Lady Woodland Dragons allowing just four hits. For the Lady Dragons Courtney James earned a single in the opening frame. The Tigerettes had singles from Dara Turner, Cierra Seeley, and Monica Moffitt. 

In the Shead contest Calais had Moffett and Gillespie with 3-hits each and Cavanaugh, McVicar, and McClure each earning 2-hits. The win was a combination of Olivia Smith and Jasmine Ross. 

The Woodland game had McVicar and Gillespie earning 3-hits each, and Cavanaugh, Smith, Cundiff, Johnson, Ross, and Black connecting with 2-apiece. Smith, Gillespie, and Ross combined in the victory.

On Friday the girls traveled to WA where they played even through 5-frames until the 5-5 contest saw Calais erupt with 10-runs paced by a Ross single, McVicar triple, Moffett single, Smith double (2-rbi), and Cavanaugh double (2-rbi). Kaylee Johnson added two more in the seventh with a 2-rbi single. On the Raider ledger Lauren Raye had a single/double, Gabby Colbeth a double, and singles by Barker, Gardner, and Seeley. Olivia Smith captured the important win with 6H, 7K, and 1-walk, while earning 3-hits (HR) and 4-rbi. Other repeat hitters for Calais were Meaghan Cavanaugh, Maddy McVicar, and Jasmine Ross.

At Jonesport-Beals Whitney Bassett hurled a 7-hitter earning 9K in the 5-2 win. At the plate Whitney has 2-singles, a double and an rbi. Kaylin Pinney added an rbi-single in the 3-run victory. Hinkley and Beal each had 2-singles in the Royalettes loss.
