High School Softball


The Calais Lady Blue remain undefeated in East “C” action with an 8-0 mark which puts them in second place. This past week they traveled to Lincoln where they dominated the hosting Lynx in a 7-1 victory. Olivia went the distance hurling a 4-hitter with 5K and 3bb.  The winning frame came in the second when 6-walks proved too much to overcome for Mattanawcook. Olivia Smith was the lone repeat hitter with 2-doubles and 2-rbi. Madison hit a triple, Miranda and Malorie each added singles in the win. In the loss Taylor Blood had 2-singles.

At home on Thursday the Lady Devils had a thriller with WA, as the guests spread 4-runs over the first 6-innings while holding Calais scoreless, only to see the tough Lady Blue Devils explode for 5-runs in the bottom of the seventh to take the exciting 1-run win. Two walks and then hits by Kate Cundiff, Jasmine Ross, Malorie Black, and finally the winning rbi-double by Madison McVicar gave Calais the one run victory. Olivia threw a 5-hitter with 8K & 4-walks. In the loss Kassidy Seeley hurled a 6-hitter with 4K and 8-walks. Gabby Colbeth had a 2-rbi-double for the Lady Raiders. Jasmine Ross paced the Devils with 2-singles and an-rbi. Other hits were earned by Cavanaugh, McVicar, Cundiff, and Black.

At Harrington the Lady Knights posted an 8-1 win over the visiting Lady Dragons. In the loss Courtney James, Whitney Bassett and Kaylin Pinney all earned singles. Katie Dow earned the win while earning 2-doubles and 2-rbi.

In Howland the Lady Dragons suffered a 9-0 loss as Kayla Dube hurled her 6th no-hitter on the season. Molly McGinn paced the win with a single-double-rbi.

The Woodland Lady Dragons earned a come from behind 4-3 win at home against Machias as Whitney Bassett controlled the guests with 13K and 7-hits and 3-walks, while Whitney, Mikayla Hamilton, and Sara Boies earned the winning runs in the bottom of six.
