Dig up basil, chives, marjoram, oregano and parsley and grow them inside as houseplants. Keep them in a cool, sunny spot.

Happy 57th anniversary to Art and Cynthia Carter. Also happy 3rd anniversary to Earl and Ann Boyd.

St. Anne’s Episcopal Church held their annual meeting following services on Sunday. A lovely lunch was served.

ECW will meet on October 1st with pot luck and meeting at 5 pm.

The VFW will meet on October 3rd at 6 pm at St. Anne’s.

It’s coming up that time of year for bazaars, raffles and holiday festivities, so watch for the times and dates.

St. Anne’s in Calais will be celebrating their Apple Fest on Saturday, September 28 beginning with breakfast. They will have something for everyone.

The Perry Harvest Fair is on October 5th, 9 am to 3 pm. That is a wonderful celebration with music, crafts, pumpkins, vegetables, home cooking. Something for every, so let’s hope for a bright, sunny day.

The Garden Club will visit the Charlotte County Blooms at St. Stephen High School on Saturday, September 28th. Coffee and lunch will be provided. Tickets in advance. There will be a guest speaker, vendors, door prizes and demonstrations.

Some people find their fortune in the oddest jobs. I was driving behind a truck that pumps out septic tanks. In big bold lettering on the side, the owner declared, “It Smells Like Money to Me!”

Kevin Spencer, Southern Gospel music artist will be appearing in concert at Second Baptist Church on Saturday, September 28th at 6:30 pm.

Junk In The Trunk on Saturday was well attended on the Main Street. A lot of different items, from tires to books and sled, tools for the guys. One more coming up on October 19th. Time to clean out.

I have to agree with  the editorial Amy Jeanroy discussed last week about school lunches. They need lots of variety. What some like, others don’t. This, for some, is the only meal they get all day. Lets make it healthy and pleasing to the eye.

Dan Schall music ministry will be performing on Friday, September 27th at Pembroke United Methodist Church. Pot luck at 6:00 pm. Concert at 7:00 pm.

Visiting Gordon and Marlene Lord last weekend were daughters Shirley of Florida and Berry from Rockland.

Pat Yardley and Sister Judy of Moncton visited brother Fred in St. Louie, Missouri and spent overnight with son Shawn Yardley and family in Bangor.
