Place In Poetry Workshop at the CCLC

Cobscook Community Learning Center announces a workshop in collaboration with the Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance, Place In Poetry: How Where We Live Inhabits Us, with Linda Aldrich on Saturday, September 28, 1:00-5:00pm.

Whether the places we know are real or imagined, yearned for or run from, enclosed or open to the sky, they work their way into our poems with particular power. This workshop will focus on poems that are anchored or launched by their locations in place and time, and will use those poems as models for our own writing. This will be a generative workshop, leaving attendees with a well-marked path to explore long after the workshop’s end.

Linda Aldrich is the author of two poetry collections, Foothold and March and Mad Women. Her poem “Enfoldment” was featured in Natasha Saje’s article “Narrative and Poetry” in the September 2008 Writer’s Chronicle, and her poem “Woman-without-Arms” won the Emily Dickinson Award 2000 from Universities West Press. Aldrich holds a BA in English and French from the University of New Hampshire, an MA in Theatre Arts from Florida State University, and an MFA in Writing from Vermont College. Aldrich taught extensively for years, including English and Humanities courses at Aims Community College in Colorado
