Washington County Emergency Organizations to Receive Funds

The  Emergency Food & Shelter Program has announced that Washington County has been chosen to receive $15,857.00  to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the area.  A meeting will be held to allocate these funds on Monday, Nov. 4th, 2013  at Washington Hancock Community Agency, 7 VIP Drive, Machias at  8:30 a.m..

The selection was made by The National Board of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Food & Shelter Division. The local board consists of representatives from the Salvation Army,  Centre Street Congregrational Food Pantry; Whiting Food Pantry; Topsfield Food Pantry; Labor of Love Food Pantry; St. Anne’s Food Pantry; Jonesport Food Pantry; Woodland Community Food Pantry, Passamaquoddy Food Pantry, Calais Food Pantry, Next Step, Danforth Food Pantry, and Washington Hancock Community Agency, which will provide the administration staff and function as fiscal agent.  The board is charged to distribute funds appropriated by Congress to help expand the capacity of food and shelter programs in high need areas around the country.
