Perry Fire Death

From the Maine Dept. of Public Safety from Spokesman Steve McCausland

The State Fire Marshal’s Office says a 93 year old man was the victim in Saturday’s fatal fire in the Washington County Town of Perry.  The blaze leveled the two story house on Birch Point Road. The victim is Curtis Probert whose body was found in the driveway of his house. The Medical Examiner’s Office said Probert died from a combination of smoke inhalation and burns. Fire Investigators said Probert was able to escape the burning house, but collapsed in the driveway. The house was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived late Saturday afternoon. Fire Investigators said because of the complete destruction of the house, the cause of the fire cannot be determined. The fire was discovered by Probert’s wife, Antoinette Probert, who lives in a mobile home next door to the house.
