Happy Hunger Games!  This Wednesday at 6:00, the Middle and High School Student Councils and National Honor Society will be hosting the second annual Hunger Games fundraiser for the Irene Chadbourne Ecumenical Food Pantry.  The groups have been busy selling tickets and collecting food and monetary donations.  Thank you to everyone who supported this worthy cause.

Also in community service news, there will be a Sneaker Drive at the Calais Community Center from 10:00-1:00 on Saturday, April 19th.  The community is being asked to donate new or gently used sneakers to give to children so they can participate in recreational sports.

Last Friday, Student Council Eastern Region President John LaPointe hosted the Eastern Region conference at Washington County Community College.  Not only was the conference a great success, John was reelected as Eastern Region President and Kyra Porter was elected as Eastern Region Vice-President.  Congratulations, we look forward to seeing what great work you do next year!

The yearbook club is taking the group photos of all the activities in Calais High School.  Considering how many clubs there are, this is no small task, but they hope to have the yearbook completed and sent out very soon.

The prom committee has finalized many aspects of the upcoming senior prom on May 10th.  The evening, which will be Las Vegas themed, will start with a walk-in at the high school and culminate with dinner and a dance at the Calais Motor Inn.

We are now officially in the fourth quarter of school.  This is a time when juniors are preparing for the SATs and visiting colleges they are interested in, while seniors are visiting colleges to which they have been accepted.  It’s a busy time for everyone, but April vacation is right around the corner!
