Contestants Sought for International Homecoming Festival Pageant

The exciting and prestigious 28th Annual International Homecoming Festival Pageant will take place August 2nd at the Calais High School. Girls from New Brunswick and Maine who are age four and older are invited to join this fun and exciting pageant.

Established as an International Homecoming Festival event in 1987, this pageant promotes volunteerism while allowing each girl to feel special on stage as she gains self-confidence, enjoys dressing up, meeting new friends, and most of all, has fun!

Preregistration is required by July 25th, and there will be plenty of help on pageant day for those who are new to pageants. All contestants participate in four events: interview, modeling, on-stage introduction, and formal wear. Everyone who competes is recognized onstage with a participation trophy and the pageant queen for each age division receives a beautiful crown, an embroidered satin sash, and a grand trophy. First and second runners-u- receive a beautiful crown, an embroidered satin sash, and a grand trophy. First and second runners-up receive a beautiful tiara, embroidered satin sash, and trophy. Contestants also have the option of participating in a photogenic competition, if they choose. The photogenic queen in each age category will receive a beautiful tiara, an embroidered satin sash, and a trophy. In total, 16 different titles will be awarded.

Queens and princesses have fun reigning over and getting involved in events of the International Homecoming Festival. Last year's queens were introduced at the concert in the park, rode in the parade and were a huge asset to the Festival Committee in fundraising activities and volunteering at events. The pageant was able to donate proceeds to the International Homecoming Festival - $500 in 2013 and $500 in 2012, making this pageant a "platinum sponsor" of our community's great festival.
