Getting Ready to Celebrate Maine’s Greatest Resource

Town News

You’ve often heard that the greatest resource of any state is its people and in the state of Maine almost forty percent of the population are 50 years old or older.

That’s why David Nealley, with the support of Representative Richard Campbell, proposed and had approved in 2013 a new law designating the second Saturday in September as Maine Seniors’ Day.

All Maine organizations and individuals are being encouraged to come up with creative ways to acknowledge the many contributions of the “50-plus” population of Maine.  Those contributions include, but are not limited to, providing wisdom and support to young families, stimulating the economy, providing philanthropic leadership, and investing thousands of volunteer hours in all communities through the state.

This year Maine Seniors’ Day is being celebrated on Saturday, September 13, 2014.
