Calais High School

Dominic Gayton

Welcome back! The last couple of weeks included a number of events and a heavily anticipated announcement. Let’s jump in to this week’s news.

The CHS Band Boosters hosted their thirteenth annual Coffee House at Calais High School on October 7, 2014. It was a wonderful success and they would like to thank all of the performers, community sponsors, and spectators that attended.

The Calais High SchoolStudent Council would like to apologize for the abrupt cancellation of their second Meet the Candidates’ Night for School Committee. A series of miscommunications caused this event to be cancelled the afternoon before it was supposed to happen. The Student Council has full intentions of resurrecting this event in the future.

The Calais High School AP English Class hosted the annual Veterans’ Day Assembly on November 10, 2014. The AP Class would once again like to thank all the veterans, sponsors, and community members who made this event a success once again. For more information on this ceremony, pick up last week’s issue of the Calais Advertiser which included a wonderful article.

This Friday, November 21, the Calais High School Chapter of National Honor Society, in conjunction with the Student Council, is hosting a spaghetti supper to benefit Tristyn Croman and his family. They hope to raise enough money to support him and his family during his illness. This event will take place at 5 PM in the Calais High School Cafeteria.

The Calais High School Concert Band is preparing for their Christmas Concert which will take place on December 7 at Calais High School. More information to come. This Saturday, the Calais High School Academic Decathlon team will be hosting their preliminary competition at Calais High School.

Last but not least, the Student Council has decided the theme of the 2015 CHS Winter Carnival: Countries. Should be great fun.

Until next week, thanks for reading.
