Baileyville-- Gerald Rodney Cochran, 75, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Friday, November 14, 2014 with his family by his side. Gerald was born in Princeton, Maine on September 20, 1939, a son of the late Kenneth and Lovina (Cottrell) Cochran. He attended schools in Princeton, graduating in June of 1957. He went to work on construction until he enlisted in the U.S. Army in May of 1963. He served as a Green Beret until 1965. After serving his country, he returned to his hometown and a job at Georgia Pacific where he worked for twelve years before resigning and becoming self-employed as a general contractor. He worked up until his seventy-fifth birthday when he became ill with cancer.  

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Bruce; sisters, Janet and Azelia. Surviving are his wife of forty-nine years, Margaret (Ober) Cochran; his daughters, Michele and husband Michael Barnes of Princeton,  Christina and husband Jim Welch of North Waterboro, and son Christopher and wife Melanie of Big Lake Township; five grandchildren whom he adored, Zachary and Alyssa Welch, Sierra Barnes, Madisyn and Ayden Cochran.  He is also survived by two sisters, Elaine Perkins and Audrey Bailey; sister in law, Joeline Cochran and many nieces and nephews. In addition, he is also survived by a very special cousin who was like a brother, Gordon Blanchard.
