Next Step To Hold A Candlelight Vigil To Remember Victims Of Domestic Abuse

Next Step, the domestic violence organization covering Hancock and Washington Counties, will hold a candlelight vigil on Sunday, January 25 at 5pm in front of Ellsworth City Hall. The vigil will remember and honor Christina Sargent, Destiny Sargent, and Duwayne Coke, murdered on December 20 in their home in Garland, Maine. The vigil will also commemorate all victims and survivors of domestic and sexual violence, stalking and dating violence, some of whom are still living in fear every day.

Next Step Community Education Coordinator, Kelly Brown, says “We invite all community members to attend the vigil and share their stories of sadness, grief, and even hope. This event is a chance for us all to come together and remember those victims who have been killed, those who survive, and those who still need our help and support.”
