Since 1993, students and educators throughout the United States and Canada have raised millions of dollars in support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s mission to cure blood cancers and improve the lives of patients and their families. Leukemia is the most common cancer in children.

This year students and staff at Calais Elementary School took part in the school fund raising initiative “Pennies for Patients.” For a three week period students had collection boxes and gathered coins (and some bills!) from family and friends. The school-wide goal was to raise $500. At an assembly last Friday morning it was announced that the total collected by students was $1,667.45. Everyone worked very hard. Two classes, Mrs. MacLeod’s 3rd grade and Mrs. Lloyd’s kindergarten raised over $300 each.

The students and staff at Calais Elementary School would like to thank everyone for their generous support.
