Arline Flood

What a great day for Mother’s Day weather wise. Unfortunately, I had to visit the emergency room in Calais for knee pain. I didn’t sleep for two days and was at the end of my rope. I was sorry to miss church in Meddybemps and the Mother’s Day Tea held at the Community Center. Sandy stopped by afterwards and brought us some goodies and roses from the Church. She said it was a fine gathering. I received many lovely flowers, lawn chairs and other great gifts. Eric called from Arizona and had sent me a rose arrangement as he does every year. What I missed the most was the call from my deceased son, Danny. He was always the first to call on any holiday, especially birthdays.

There was a special baby shower held at Marcia Wheelock’s house on Saturday. Baby Hannah was so sweet and at ten weeks can smile and respond to being held which I did for quite a while. The house was decorated and lunch was served. Tammy won all three door prizes.

On Mother’s Day morning a breakfast buffet of crepes was enjoyed before the family headed home. Karan Isaac, and Joshua Sinclair back to Dover. Tony, Sam, Emma and Hannah to Dorham. Karen, Mari and Tia to Eddington. It was quite a houseful. After the shower, the group went for a walk along the waterfront.

Pomona Grange #16 met on Tuesday May 5th at the Perry Hall for a 6:00 p.m. pot luck supper and a 7:00 p.m. meeting. The master Helen Brooks was in the chair.

The C.W.A. prize, a yellow begonia went to Helen Brooks. Pike Seavey and Kathy Mekelburg won the mystery prizes. A memorial was held for last year’s departed members. Roses were laid on the Bible for each one.

Arline Flood was elected treasurer and Louise Lee secretary. Arline was put in as the new C.W.A. Chairman during the November meeting. We have been trying to get the Sec. treasurer from the former officers, Susan and Suzzane Leonier. There is now enough money to pay the state dues. A little was sent to each Grange asking for donations.

The next meeting will be held at Cathance Grange on June 2 with a pot luck at 6:00 p.m.

I mis-spoke. John Johnson had hip surgery, not knee.

Also Ava Townsend, not Ada.

Once again my typewriter does not work. I have gone through several in the last few years. I would like to get a “Royal” like I had for years.

There was a small forest fire in Cooper but the assistant Fire Chief Ronny Flood saw the smoke and called it in and a crew quickly put it out. It was only a ten minute walk from our house. I heard that it was arson.

Cathance Grange will hold a regular meeting on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. on May 13. We will meet downstairs to make it easier.
