5:00 pm US/6:00 pm CDN – Opening Ceremony Celebrating International Friendship, Ferry Point BridgeThis ceremony is an annual event demonstrating the friendship between our two countries. All area dignitaries, civic organizations, and community members are invited to attend.  

 

5:30 pm US – Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest, Triangle Park, Calais.  Kids 12 and under are invited to come create some colorful fun on the sidewalk.  Parents/guardians must remain with their children for safety.  FREE to enter.  Sponsored by the International Homecoming Festival Committee.

4:00 pm US – Paint Like No One's Watching, Artisans Downeast Gallery, 343 Main Street, Calais.  Artisans Downeast is offering a "judgment-free zone" to come create your own painted masterpiece or simply have some fun dabbing paint at a canvas.  Assistance and encouragement will be available; however, participants are welcome, and strongly encouraged, to let their inner artist free and "Paint Like No One's Watching."  Contact Lea Brown, 214-6583.

6:30 pm US – Chiefs of the St. Croix Valley Art Exhibit Opening Night Reception, Calais Free Library.  With honor and respect in memory of all past leaders of the Passamaquoddy Tribe, this new exhibit features 10 original paintings portraying 14 past chiefs/governors.  Tribal drummers plan to perform at the opening reception.  Free admission and free refreshments.  Exhibit will be on view through August.  Contact Tom Brennan, 454-8822.

9:00 am US – Johnson’s International 5 Mile Road Race, Calais Memorial Park.  This two nation race is a USATF and Athletics Canada Certified course that begins in Calais, travels through St. Stephen, and finishes back in the states.  Requires participants register from 7:00 to 8:00 am US and provide passport, $15 pre-registration, $20 race day. 12:00 pm US/1:00 pm CDN – 42nd Annual International Homecoming Festival Parade! Parade begins at Dead River Oil, lower Barker Street in Calais and ends at Border Arena on King Street in St. Stephen. Parade participants are required to pre-register by Friday, Aug. 1st.  Applications are available at St. Stephen Town Hall and Calais City Building.  Please remember, throwing of anything by parade participants is strictly prohibited.  Sponsored by the International Homecoming Festival Committee.
