Applefest Returns for a 3rd Year!

You’re invited to join a celebration of apples at Downeast Coastal Conservancy’s Klondike Mountain Applefest.  Applefest is scheduled on Saturday, September 12, 2015 from 11am-3pm at Klondike Mountain Preserve in Lubec, located about 1 mile north of Route 189 on the North Lubec Road in Lubec.

There will be apple activities to participate in including apple cider pressing, apple jelly making and apple print craft creating.  The trail will be available for hiking and an apple themed story will be set along a path for a walking story time for children.  There will be a guided hike of the trail at Klondike Mountain for adults, as well as an exploratory hike geared towards families with younger children is being planned as well.  Hike times have not been set; the full schedule will be posted online at www.DowneastCoastalConservancy.org/Applefest as it is set.

Things to know before you go.  Consider bringing your favorite apple recipe to share with others.  The apple crop at Klondike Mountain varies, feel free to bring apples from your favorite tree for pressing or jelly making.  If you wish to bring home apple jelly please bring your own jar (pint size or smaller), there will be some jars available for purchase.  Attendees are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy a beautiful day in the outdoors.  This event is open to everyone and is free, donations are welcome.
