Two Buildings Destroyed by Fire in Baileyville

By Jayna Smith

On Tuesday night, August 25th, Baileyville Fire Department was dispatched to Mill Street at approximately 11:00 pm.  According to Chief John McPhee, crews arrived to "a fully involved structure fire."

The location of the fire is that of a former tattoo shop.  "The fire quickly spread to a nearby building, a former auto shop," McPhee said.  Both properties are currently owned by Woodland Pulp, LLC.

Baileyville Fire Department was assisted by fire crews from Calais, Princeton, and Alexander.  According to McPhee, crews remained on the scene for about two and a half hours.  No injuries occurred.

The fire is considered suspicious, Chief McPhee reported, and is being investigated by the State Fire Marshal's Office.
