Irene Chadbourne Food Pantry Needs $17,000 to Open Emergency Shelter

Thousands of dollars and hundreds of volunteer man hours have been invested in building an emergency shelter for individuals and families facing medical, fire or disaster hardships. This three-bedroom, fully furnished shelter, which will serve the Calais area and Washington County, is now complete. Unfortunately, before we can open the door, code requires us to install a $32,000 sprinkler system.

In response to the dire need of this shelter, the Episcopal Bishop of Maine has awarded the Food Pantry $10,000. This past week The Agnes Lindsay Trust also granted funds of $5,000 towards the sprinkler system. We are so close to our goal. We appeal to the community to help us to close the gap in funding. Please help us to open the door to this critical emergency housing. The Irene Chadbrourne Food Pantry is a nonprofit 501 c 3, so your donation is tax deductible. Any size donation is deeply appreciated. Inquiries and/or donations can be sent to Irene Chadbourne Food Pantry, P.O. Box 1005, Calais, Maine 04619 or you may contact Lenny Hanson 207-214-8553 or Father David Sivret 214-4883.
