Beautiful, clear, crisp and cold best describes the Grand Lake Stream conditions. In talking with a local guide in the area he reported that East Grand Lake was reporting 5 to 9” of ice. Most of the snow has blown off West Grand which creates the opportunity for ice to form quickly. The guide mentioned that he will be going out this week to drill holes and checking ice thickness etc. More details next week.

Planning a trip to Mt. Katahdin this summer? Grand Lake Stream is a great jumping off spot. The following info is provided by the Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry. Here is a very brief version of the info provided by DACF.

The Downeast Lakes Land Trust would like to remind everyone to get your photos submitted to the DLLT Photo Contest.  Aspiring photographers have until April 15th to submit photos of the Downeast Lakes region.  Rules and details for the contest can be found at www.downeastlakes.org/news-events/dllt-photo-contest/.
