Kristi joined the hospital family on a Monday morning in the spring of 1971.  She graduated from college  Friday afternoon, moved from Aroostook to Washington County on the weekend and joined CRH on Monday morning.   That was 44 years ago.

Her first job at CRH was as Switchboard Operator, making minimum wage at that time of $2.00 per hour.   In 1973 she was promoted to Medicare Billing Clerk and two years later to Administrative Secretary to the Hospital Administrator Frances Hall.  While in that position responsibilities for public relations were added.   In 1981, while working for then Hospital President John Wiesendanger, her responsibilities and title changed to Project Assistant to the President where she developed the Hospital’s first Human Resources Department also doing public relations and special administrative projects.

For 24 years of her tenure she worked under Chief Executive Officer Ray Davis, in the position of Director of Human Resources.  Eighteen years ago the responsibilities of Corporate Compliance Officer were added.

Kristi grew up in Aroostook County with brothers and sisters, the children of hard-working parents who were potato growers and shippers.  Playing in her family was always after all the work was done.  A weekend at the lake was after work on Saturday returning Sunday night for work Monday morning.

Kristi attended Bridgewater schools graduating from Central Aroostook High School in Mars Hill and Northern Maine Community College in Presque Isle.  She completed the University of Southern Maine Education for Business Program in Human Resources Administration and earned national certification as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) through the Human Resources Certification Institute.  She completed advanced training in labor contract negotiations and corporate compliance.

A member of the Hospital Auxiliary for nearly 40 years, Kristi served on the Calais Recreation Commission and Down East Hospice Board.  She is past president of the Maine Public Relations Association and a 35 year member of the Maine Society of Human Resources Administrators.  She served several years on the Aroostook/Washington Counties Local Area 1 Workforce Investment Board and Washington County Community College Business and Medical Assistant Program Advisory Committees.

She lives in Calais with her husband Samuel and summers at their cottage on Pleasant Lake in Alexander.  They have one daughter Allison Atkinson, RN, a surgical nurse at CRH, son-in-law Stacey, grandchildren Zachary and Rachael, and a one-year old great-granddaughter, Callie Kristi Ann Seeley.  “My new best friend.” said Kristi.  “We will have lots of time to spend together now.”  Kristi said she also plans to go to Marden’s in the middle of a weekday….but only if she wants to.   Best wishes to Kristi.
