Calais Regional Medical Services Welcomes New Family Nurse Practitioner

Calais Regional Hospital is pleased to welcome Karen Davis, Family Nurse Practitioner, to CRMS Family Medicine.

Karen is a hometown girl who graduated from Calais High School.  Karen has worked her way up to her current role as a Nurse Practitioner with stops along the way as a CNA, LPN, Associate Degree RN and Bachelor Degree RN.  She earned her Bachelor and Master of Science in Nursing degrees from the University of Maine.  Since earning her Family Nurse Practitioner degree in 2007, she has worked at Passamaquoddy Health Center providing primary care.

Karen’s experience while working as a Registered Nurse includes inpatient care, emergency, intensive care, office nurse, public health nurse and school nurse.  She has also worked as an RN clinical instructor for the Northern Maine Community College RN program.

Over the last 9 years, Karen has provided primary care services to all ages, from infants to those in their nineties.  She has experience with preventative care, acute care and care of chronic conditions.  Karen’s experience will round out the continuum of care offered to patients at CRMS.   While she will be carrying her own patient load for those who prefer the greater amount of time that a nurse practitioner is able to devote to her patients, she will also serve as “back up” for the CRMS’ physician, whose schedule can sometimes get heavy during peak periods of illness.

Karen, and her husband Jim reside in Alexander where she also assists at the family business: Pleasant Lake Camping.  She has three children Darcy, who resides in Westbrook; Zach, who lives in Calais; and Carly, who is a college student at Unity College.  The apples of Karen’s eye are her 17 month old granddaughter Haidyn and 7 month old grandson Nash.   In her down time Karen enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with her family, including her three labs.

Karen will begin seeing patients on April 4.  If you would like to meet Karen or schedule an appointment, call CRMS at 454-8195, option 1.
