The Board of Directors of Downeast EMS recently voted unanimously to donate a 2004 Chevrolet Life-Line Ambulance to the Perry Volunteer Fire Department. Downeast EMS has replaced this ambulance with a newer unit. Perry Fire will be using this ambulance as a rescue/fire rehabilitation truck. Downeast EMS has a great working relationship with Perry Volunteer Fire Department and several of our employees are on Perry Fire. Downeast EMS is glad they were able to help by donating the ambulance. Downeast EMS in the past has helped local fire departments in our communities, and they have donated ambulances to Alexander Fire Department and Charlotte Fire Department.

Washington County Emergency Services Authority (WCEMSA) was created on January 25,2001 by the 110th Maine State Legislature.

WCEMSA was formed to provide emergency medical services for the Washington County area and surrounding counties after the region's private company ceased operations in December 2000. WCEMSA is a Quasi Municipal agency non-profit 501 (c)(3) and the governing body of Downeast EMS. WCEMSA Board of Directors is comprised of a representative from each town that is in the Downeast EMS coverage area.
