Things are very quiet in the Town of Cooper but we do just a couple of things going on currently this month.  The next regular select board meeting will be held on Saturday, July 16th at 8:00 am.  Next office hours will be held on Thursday, July 21st with Sandy Lyon Clerk hours from 6:00-7:00 pm and with Laurie Pike, Tax Collector hours from 4:30-6:30 pm.  We are still asking residents with internet needs or problems to please contact Kim Emerson at Axiom Technologies at 207-255-0679 in Machias to add your name, address, and internet needs to his list of coverage area to be mapped so Axiom can map the Town of Cooper Internet needs.  Axiom has made the commitment to have this mapping work completed by the July 30th Annual Cooper Town Meeting so we should have an update at that time.

The Annual Town Meeting is scheduled for July 30th at 10:00 am with a pot luck dinner following the meeting.  The positions for election include town clerk for a three year term; tax collector for a two year term; treasurer for a one year term; select board member for three year term; select board member for two year term; and a select board member for one year term; chair of assessors for three year term; assessor for two year term; and assessor for one year term; and one school board representative position is open for three year term.  The appointed positions include health officer; fire warden and emergency management officer; cemetery sexton, planning board members, registrar of voters, and the municipal officers with designate a general assistance officer. Summer residents are welcome to attend the Town Meeting to be aware of town business and decisions for the upcoming year, but they will not be able to vote on town business decisions.  The Cooper Community Center Friends is still coordinating a pot luck dinner after the town meeting for some community fellowship with our neighbors and summer residents.  Please contact Kathleen Hull soon by phone or by email at to get on the list of food items needed for the pot luck so we do not all bring the same dishes.
