I am sure many Cooper residents have noticed the ground work happening on the North Union Road in recent weeks.  It was hard for some longtime residents to see the old homestead and greenhouses coming down and being hauled away, but from the more positive outlook, we can now welcome a new couple onto the North Union Road in Cooper, Charles Holmes and Janet Lance.  Ground work is about complete, the slab is all poured, and they are awaiting their new home, which will be arriving in the near future.  Welcome Charles and Janet to the Cooper Community!

Another Annual Town Meeting has past and we are moving quickly into another fiscal year in the Town of Cooper.  The elections results are as follows:  Kathleen Hull, town clerk for a three year term; Laurie Pike, tax collector for a two year term; Rae Ackley, treasurer for a one year term; Dan Ackley, select board member for three year term; John Viselli, select board member for two year term; Brenda Gove, select board member for one year term; Brenda Gove, chair of assessors for three year term; Norman Howe, assessor for two year term; and Scott Jamieson, assessor for one year term; and Amanda Myers, school board representative position for three year term.  In the near future, the Select Board will be appointing the positions of health officer; fire warden and emergency management officer; cemetery sexton, planning board members, registrar of voters, and general assistance officer.

The next regular select board meeting for the month of August will be held on Saturday, August 20th from 8:00 am to 9:00 am.  The planning board meets on the first Saturday of each month so next meeting will be on September 3rdth at 9:00 am. Town office hours of operation have been changed to 4:30-6:30 pm on the first and third of each month and by appointment as necessary.  The next office hours will be on Thursday, August 18th from 4:30-6:30 pm.

The Cooper Community Center Friends will be holding an Open House event on August 20, 2016 at the Cooper Community Center from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm to complete arts and crafts activities including rock painting, jewelry making, adult coloring, box art, paper dolls, and more.  The Friends’ Café will be providing refreshments for the event and admission is free.  A quilted tote bag will be displayed to illustrate the upcoming September project.
